As I had this Pebble print in mind for a cami, I also had in mind wearing this top with a blazer. It’s a fun pop of color to go with a neutral jacket and pants. A blazer can really tone down the print but also makes the print pop a bit more as well.
I followed the pattern's recommendations to finish side seams with French seams. With the half lining included in the front and back, the inside of the cami is just as nice as the outside. It’s one of those details that takes longer to sew but the resulting cami is really fun to wear and worth the extra time there.
I do love this Pebble print but I wanted to mention that I was intentional where I placed the Front pattern piece on the fabric. Unless it’s the look you’re going for, I didn’t want the pebble dots to line up “just right” (if you know what I mean). The pattern placement was easy there but I just thought I’d mention this, for reference.
As I shared the size that I picked for this top in the previous post, analyzing the choice that I made, the size resulted in a fit that’s a bit more snug than I’d prefer. Next time I would go up one size if I’m sewing this in a similar fabric. I’d also shorten the straps a bit to bring up the scoop in the back a bit more.
I also wanted to mention, if you treat a fabric with starch and try on the finished garment before washing, it’s going to be a tighter fit before the starch is washed out. So just a tip there, wash and dry the top again before you try on the finished version (for a looser fit).
The ballet top DELPY pattern by Halfmoon Atelier is a really fun pattern that I highly recommend.
I hope you have a great New Year's, cheers to 2025.
