As the weather heats up, I tend to slow down. These are the days I want those things that are quick and easy to make. Summer is also a time I will go back to those tried and true patterns that I enjoy making the most. I want to look put together, but I really don’t want to put in a lot of effort into achieving that look.
This fabric is a Minerva core range stretch woven slub linen look viscose in blush pink. Because I am a Minerva brand ambassador, the fabric was gifted to me by them. It washes and dries well (cold water wash, dry on low heat), but it does require some ironing. Overall, I would consider this to be an easy care fabric. It is a lightweight fabric that’s perfect for hot summer days.
I had no issues sewing with this fabric. I did use the serger on the raw edges to keep those from fraying. Otherwise, a universal needle (size 12 or 14) works well.
The material is thin, as in it’s a bit see through. That’s why I made the tunic. I would like to make a pair of matching shorts to go with the top, but they would definitely have to be lined in order for me to feel comfortable wearing them.
As far as the Angela Wolf Linda Tunic pattern is concerned, I have made this several times. The main changes I’ve made to this are 1) I had previously shortened the back curve, and 2) I made this short sleeve. The pattern is a long-sleeve tunic pattern, but it’s easy enough to make this change. For future changes to the pattern, I may go ahead and shorten that back curve/hem again so it doesn’t hang as far down. You can see from some of the photos that the back of the tunic is fairly long, which is the style and how it was designed. It’s also an easy project to sew. I made this pattern in an afternoon (except for hemming).
The pattern is a classically styled pullover tunic that really does look good on just about every body type and shape. I love the style because it’s easy to wear and very comfortable. Versatility means it can be worn with many other garments whether pants, skirts or shorts. I have also made this pattern into a dress.
