Hi,
Monday was the day after bonefire night and the perfect time to start my Christmas outfit.
Here is Simplicity 8014 view B in a vintage candy cane style dress and I love it!
This dress took three short sewing sessions to make and I love the vintage cuteness in the practical poplin. My last post was how I stitched the fabric if you want to scroll back one, it’s there. It is so soft to wear and I love the fit of the dress.
So, I present my Christmas candy cane dress, the big thing is that it is so easy to wear. I needed this dress in my wardrobe for the festive season. The shape is flattering with the darts on the bust and the waist and a flared skirt with a collar.
I liked this pattern as you have two different looks with one pattern packet; the straight shirt dress or the two piece flared. So many looks in one paper packet and with different fabrics they would look different again.
I found the instructions easy to follow and the pattern pieces easy to work out. The dress went together in a size 12 with minimum alterations.
I went for vintage red buttons on this make and the placing on the pattern were perfect.
I highly recommend this pattern as a wardrobe staple and I look I have made a Christmas dress to fit my lifestyle. And it can be worn after Christmas too.
Happy Stitching,
Samantha x
