Pattern Description: McCalls 8058--Close-fitting, pullover dresses have neckline variations, and stitched hems. A, B: Round neckline. A, E: Short sleeves. B: Long sleeves. C: Three-quarter length sleeves. C, D: Scoop neckline. D, F: Sleeveless. E, F: V-neckline and neck bands.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 6-14, 14-22. I made the size 8 grading to a 10 at the hip. The shoulders are a bit too big but I had sewn this pattern once before and just cut the same size I had made previously without thinking about the shoulder fit. The 6 grading to an 8 at the chest then to a 10 at the hip probably would've been a better fit.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, but I did make a couple of design changes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? It's a t-shirt dress. I didn't look at the instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I love all of the options this pattern provides and how fast/easy it is to sew.
Dislikes: Not all of the front pieces have all body lengths. I made the scoop neck view and had to lengthen the dress to match the longest dress length on the back pattern piece. it's nonsensical to me why they would draft the various necklines to have fixed lengths.
Fabric Used: Minerva Exclusive Floral Carousel Viscose Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric. I had originally planned to sew a jumpsuit with this fabric but I found myself craving a quick easy project so I made this dress instead. I do not regret my decision at all--i think it's a lovely dress.
Changes/alterations: I did some mixing and matching with the views. I added a neckband to the scoop neckline because I don't like the idea of turning and stitching it down. I also added a slit to the left side of the midi length so make it easier to walk.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I've made this pattern once before and would highly recommend the pattern because of all the options available.
Conclusion: This print is so gorgeous and it makes such a comfortable dress that you can wear casually or more dressed up. I love it.
