Pattern Description: Tilly and the Buttons Pearl Cardigan--Elevate your knitwear with Pearl, a V neck wrap cardigan that's bang on-trend. Wear Pearl with jeans, a denim skirt or over your favourite dress - it's the perfect cardigan to tie your look together.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 1-15. I made a size 2 (UK 8) with the balloon sleeves.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for one boneheaded mistake on my part.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I've made this before and found the instructions easy to follow. However, this time around despite reading through the instructions multiple times I somehow managed to put the ties on the wrong side of the front.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I love a good wrap cardigan. The cropped length is just right for me and I like the different sleeve options.
Dislikes: It might be slightly too oversized, especially since this fabric doesn't have a ton of stretch and recovery. I probably should have sized down, but I don't think the overall fit is too bad.
Fabric Used: Minerva Core Range 100% Cotton Sweater Knit Stretch Fabric Purple Sage. I used 2 meters. This is a really lovely sweater knit that isn't too heavy. I was a little worried about the thickness going through my serger but I just went slowly and had no issues other than having to play around with my thread tension to get it just right.
Changes/alterations: I shortened the sleeves 2 inches but because this fabric has no elastane the cuffs are a little looser which makes them droop down a bit over my hand. with this fabric i probably should've shortened the sleeves another inch or tightened the cuffs slightly to stay in place on my wrist.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Despite the snafu of putting the ties on the wrong side (i had already serged everything and it would've been a nightmare to unpick and redo so i just left it) I am a fan of this pattern so I'm sure I will make it again at some point. I do think the fabric is a good choice for this style of sweater.
Conclusion: This cardi will be a nice layering piece especially heading into fall. Love the muted purple tone and it will look nice on its own as a top or over dresses.
