Pattern Description: The Pattern Emporium Dream On Tiered Dress & Skirt features a fitted bodice, a fabulous choice of sleeves & necklines and easy-to-follow instructions.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes (AU) 4-30. I made a size 6.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I think so.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Truthfully I only looked at the instructions for putting in the sleeve elastic and to check seam allowances. But PE instructions are always very thorough.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I love the variety of options offered. you can make many variations from this one pattern and get a ton of different looks.
Dislikes: This isn't so much about the pattern but more of a me problem. I realized in the process of making this dress that I already have a very similar style in my wardrobe. I accidentally made a duplicate.
Fabric Used: Minerva Core Range Embroidered Cotton Jersey Stretch Knit Fabric White. I used 1.5m. The fabric is surprisingly not that sheer. Of course you should take care with your undergarments but I do not think it is necessary to wear a slip underneath.
My options: High round neckline, short bishop sleeves, no pockets, mini length.
Changes/alterations: I used 3/8" sleeve elastic instead of 1/2" because that is all I had in my stash. I kind of wish I had made the super mini length but this version turned out ok.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I love this style of dress and I am sure I will make it again eventually. However, I have made so many tiered dresses and maybe it's time to give this silhouette a break.
Conclusion: On its own merits I think it's a really cute dress and it's certainly very comfortable. I just wish I had chosen a different color to avoid making a duplicate.
