Pattern Description: The Pattern Emporium Field of Dreams dress/top is designed for woven fabrics & available to sew in sizes 4-30. This dress features a fully lined bodice with a choice of necklines in classic or button front. Add narrow or wide straps & the skirt tiers to create your dream dress.
Pattern Sizing: Sizes (AU) 4-30. I made a size 6.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? There are tons of variations with this pattern, but yes it does.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Because there are so many options there's some flipping back and forth to find the instructions that apply to the view that you are making but otherwise it's pretty simple and straightforward to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I love how many options there are. You could make this pattern dozens of times and get dozens of different looks.
Dislikes: i don't love the ruffle shoulders on me but i think it's ok in this dress because it balances out the volume at the bottom. but if i make another i won't add the ruffles again.
Fabric Used: I used this gorgeous Minerva exclusive cotton sateen. I absolutely love this print. It is stunning. I wanted to make something show-stopping with it and I think that this dress is worthy! It's very easy to sew and press and will be so comfortable to wear this summer.
My options--wide strap with ruffle, v-neck bodice with faux button placket, pockets, midi length.
Changes/alterations: I lined the ruffle instead of hemming it. I moved the bust darts down .75" (i made the top as a test and found that i needed this adjustment). i used the tall length for the bottom tier to get an ankle length dress using the midi pattern pieces (i'm 4'9"). I also slip stitched the button placket down at the top of the dress to make sure it won't move around. I only had 3 matching buttons in my stash so i made it work.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will absolutely make this dress again. I think it turned out stunning and I would love to have a few more in my closet.
Conclusion: I keep saying that every dress i make is my new favorite, but honestly I love this one so much! The fabric is so gorgeous, it makes me happy to look at it.
