I absolutely love the final result! The jumpsuit is warm, but not too hot. The 100% wool suiting fabric is breathable and very comfortable to wear. I love that the pants have pockets and the waistband is more flattering, drawing in the center.

The idea of combining a top and pants that I’ve already made into a jumpsuit! Although I did take time with fitting the top and pants together, I also saved some time using patterns that I already knew fit me well. I think it would be fun to make this jumpsuit again but with short sleeves and the cropped pant length for a summer garment. You could insert an invisible zipper in the center front seam of the top instead of the snap tape. If I did this again for a summer version with a zipper, I might have the zipper going upside down along the center of the top so the zipper pull would be hidden under the waistband.

The pants are a little snug in the waistband to get on and off over my hips. I may go up a size next time and bring in the waistband slightly. I could also grade the seam allowance in the waistband to be ¼” instead of the recommended ½” seam allowance for a little more ease around my hips.

Although I added 2” of length in the top, I ended up cutting off 5” in the end. Your mileage may vary if you want to make your own jumpsuit, combining these two patterns as well. Depending on the drape of the fabric that you use, you may want to conservatively add more length than what you’ll need as well so you can adjust the length of the top within the pants seam as well.

The Remy is a great pattern to hack with this seam down the front. It was easy to modify the look of a seam with this faux seam.

I think in the end this hack has more of a boiler suit type element. I would enjoy wearing a belt on top of the waistband. I need to go belt shopping as the only thick belt that I have is black. I think a lighter, camel brown belt would be a nice addition to this outfit.

This fabric is so nice and was such a treat to receive from Minerva in exchange for these posts. I had not yet worked with wool suiting and it’s worth every penny! I have some smaller scraps of this wool suiting left over so I’m looking forward to using up every last bit of this fabric. I’m thinking about making some zippered pouches with the scraps as well.
