For my Minerva brand ambassador project this month, I decided to sew a matching loungewear set with 2 Pattern Emporium patterns--the Grab a Cuppa Cardi and the Urban Pants Collection.
For the cardigan, I cut a size 6, sizing down one size from my body measurements. I think the smaller size still has plenty of ease and layers well over tops so I would choose this size again in the future. I shortened the sleeves but did not make other adjustments. I sewed the cropped view with the tapered hem. The pattern was very straightforward and simple to sew. I think in the future I would choose a fabric with more drape but I'm happy with the results in this fabric.
My fabric did not have the required amount of stretch for the Urban Pants pattern, so I went up to a size 10 from my body measurements of a size 8. I also graded up to a size 12 at the crotch level to make more room for my thighs, grading back down to a 10 at the knee. I cut the high-rise version but these pants are more of a mid-rise on me. I chose the tapered pants view and cut the hem at the wide/flare crop line, as I needed a length in between the tapered crop and the tapered full-length view. I used a scrap of athletic knit for the yoga style waistband. I love how you don't need to insert elastic in this pattern--it makes the sewing incredibly simple.
I absolutely love a matching set and how you can wear the pieces separately. I'm sure these pieces with their cozy fur-backed insides will get a ton of wear in winters to come.
