I'm very excited to show you this, I love this top I just finished making!
It's the #DymamicBrushstrokes #MinervaExclusiveFabric and #Butterick5955 with a couple of tweaks from my last version.
I sewed view D but with the sleeve length from B. I sized down (to a small), just because it's a very oversized style and I was curious to see what the smaller size would look like (the last one I made was a medium). I actually prefer it as it's still very loose and oversized, just not quite so much so.
I also added 6cm of length to the front and 4cm to the back, which lengthend it a bit overall, and made the high-low hem less of a contrast.
This is the third garment I've made now in the Minerva exclusive viscose challis and I just love it. I am usually more of a knit fabric sewer, so this has made a nice change, I've really enjoyed sewing it.
It is a bit slippy to sew, but by no means the most slippy fabric I've worked with, it's pretty well behaved. I just used lots of pins to help control it 😉
I sewed 90% of this on my overlocker which made it a super speedy sew. Less than 2 hours to cut out and sew! There are just 3 pattern pieces - I'd definitely recommend it for a beginner or anyone really who wants a quick and satiafying sew - I'm all about those hehe!
I honestly think I've found 'my top' for wovens in this pattern. It feels comfy, I love the slouchy style, I love the sleeve length, I love how it looks in soft/drapey fabrics like this, the length is now perfect, and it's quick and easy to sew. That's my kind of pattern 😁
I also love thats it's a simple style so you can really let the fabric do the talking. And as a lover of prints, that's perfect for me!
It's the kind of style I feel comfy and good in, so I'll definitely wear this everyday to work, but I think dressed up with some heels and jewellery, it'll be lovely for a night out with friends, so super versatile 😊
