One of my most fun makes from last season is the Magdala dress by I Am Patterns.. I had this pattern for over a year (or maybe two).. I was looking for the perfect fabric to show all the fun layers of this dress pattern..

I received this beautiful Crowded faces Marlie Care lawn from Lady McElroy Fabrics, as part of their brand ambassador program.. The fabric is light and perfect for all tiers of Magdala dress.. I had 4 meters of fabric as the pattern suggests.. My pattern layout skills were excellent and I squeezed all pattern pieces on 3 meters of fabric.. I used the main fabric for all the layers of the dress..

I picked the size based only on my bust measurements.. I could have gone smaller.. The collar is wider than this type of collar usually is.. Instead of sewing buttons I installed metal snaps.. I always have them at hand in cases when I don’t have time to look for buttons..

I made the dress in September and I’m sad it didn’t have a lot of wear.. It is super fun to wear and receives a lot of compliments.. I think that this sage green crowded faces fabric is my favourite colorway..
