I am so thrilled to share my very first Minerva brand ambassador project! I have been wanting to add some long jersey dresses to my wardrobe for winter. I pulled out this classic OOP pattern from my stash, McCalls 6612. It's a pattern for a fitted maxi dress with long sleeves and a giant cowl neck.
The fabric is a polka dot cotton/spandex jersey. It has a nice weight to it and plenty of stretch for the pattern. The fabric makes that extra large cowl stand out and gives it a super cozy feeling.
I cut a size 8 at the shoulders/chest and graded to a size 10 at the hip. I shortened the sleeves 2.5" and the body length by 9 inches. I am only 4'9" which is why I had to shorten the dress so much. The dress is perfectly fitted without being too clingy and the skirt is still wide enough to easily walk in.
I have styled the dress on its own with knee length tan boots, but I also show it more casually with a jean jacket and white sneakers. I love both looks, and this dress is so easy to style up or down.
I feel like this dress will get a lot of wear this winter but it'll also be great for spring and fall. Love the small scale polka dots that add a little flair without being overwhelming and the color is just stunning. I love how my first ambassador project turned out, and I think it was a huge success!
