I MADE JEANS! They fit amazingly and feel so comfortable! And will you believe I made no additional adjustment to the pattern? Having a petite 158cm typical Asian figure, this is really unexpected. All credits go to 2 factors: The wonderful Legato jeans pattern with the built-in "choose your own adventure" customized fitting, and great stretch/recovery in the soft washed denim I used.
The Love Notions Legato is your classic mid-rise stovepipe straight-leg stretch jeans. It has the traditional five pockets, zip fly, back yoke and belt loops - all beautifully drafted and clearly illustrated in step-by-step instructions. The stovepipe silhouette is not just on-trend but also practical, comfortable and versatile for styling.
What makes Legato truly unique from other Jeans patterns out there is the amazing built-in customizable fit. Sized from US 0-32 (Full hip 34"-60"), you can personalize your fit by choosing from Straight vs. Curvy figure, Flat vs. Full seat, Petite/Regular/Tall Rise and Inseams. That's 2x2x3x3=36 different fitting profiles for each size - all done for you within the pattern to help you achieve the perfect fit. For my Legato, I made size 0 graded to size 2 waist with the Straight figure x Flat seat x Petite rise x Regular inseams fit combination. The fit is amazing without any further adjustment - which is such a delight! During the test of Legato, most testers of all types of body profiles were able to achieve a great customized fit without much additional adjustments.
On to the black washed denim I used. When I first received it, it felt much like denim in my Ready-to-wear jeans that are sturdy and firm. But after washing it through 2 cycles and line drying, it turned into a most lovely soft hand. It had a little shrinkage as you would expect out of new denim, but it also gained a bit more stretch after the wash. The right amount of stretch is essential to getting the right fit out of a stretch jeans pattern like Legato, and I would say this denim definitely delivered! The recovery is also excellent, which means after wearing your jeans for a few hours it stays in place without you having to tug on it all day ;-) We all have been there with stretched out jeans and it's no fun!
