This is the second bias cut skirt in my closet. I wanted to compare this Tessuti pattern with the Viki Sews bias cut skirt I had previously made. I knew the weight of this John Kaldor fabric from Minerva was perfect for this style of skirt. When the fabric arrived the colours were brighter than I normally wear so I decided to make the fabric into a skirt instead of a slip dress. The fabric weight and quality are gorgeous! It feels very luxurious and is the kind of fabric which can be dressed up or down. The fabric It would make an amazing Sadie slip dress.

Bias cut garments are relatively easy to sew as they are generally made up of very pattern pieces of fabric so are quick to sew. Which is definitely the case with this pattern. The key with bias cut garments is in the cutting out. You need to carefully measure everything to ensure that the fabric is perfectly on the bias. This fabric has lovely drape but doesn’t shift around like I have had other fabrics do which ruins the bias cut. I love wearing bias cut garments the fabric falls in a gentle way across the body which results in a garment with lovely drape which skims over any lumps or bumps.

One thing about this skirt that I love is the elasticated waistbands - perfect for these Covid conditions! I love wearing this skirt with a black shirt or white blouse, denim jacket or tailored coat. I wear it on days when I’m feeling blue the bold print makes me smile
