Hi everyone,

I’m back with my latest Minerva collaboration that I’m so excited to share.

I ordered this beautiful burnout velvet knit fabric knowing it would make a stunning drapy maxi dress. When I received the fabric, I was so impressed with the quality of it and how vibrant and luxurious the colours looked in person. I initially thought this would be more of a casual dress but with this stunning fabric, this is more of an evening wear for me.

In terms of ease of sew, I was at first nervous about how to handle thread tension knowing that the burnout technique on the velvet leaves intermittent sheer patterns on the fabric. However, the difference in the thickness of the fabric did not affect the sewing process. It went just as you would expect with a typical velvet knit fabric.

What I’m mostly obsessed about (aside from the gorgeous colours) is how soft this fabric is - both from the right and wrong sides.

I think the choice of the maxi wrap dress pattern from Vogue 8379 went super cute with this fabric design.

I love it so much and I cannot wait for spring and summer to rock this outside. Hope you enjoy it.

Much love,
Ava @dressedbyava
