Well when Minerva offered to send a McCall's pattern (I'm a #minervabrandambassador), I knew this was the one I wanted. This is McCall's 8244. I have seen other sewists make this one and I really liked it. My only concern was that I would mess up the design of the color blocks if I didn't get the right pieces in the right places.

In order to keep everything straight, I actually made a drawing of what colors I wanted in which places. That helped tremendously! Also, I think the fact that my colors were so different from each other helps a lot too.

I used scrap pieces of fabric to make this top (none of my fabric was from Minerva for this). And much to my surprise, this came together in a couple of hours. I used my serger (4 thread overlock stitch) for the construction and a twin needle for the hems. This pattern doesn't call for binding the edges, but You could add that if you wish. I simply turned the neck and hem under 5/8" and hemmed them. I did not add the hood, so that was the only change I made to the pattern.

This is a terrific pattern that isn't nearly as difficult as I, at least, thought it might be. I definitely recommend. I didn't make the leggings, but that is part of this set. There is a short-sleeve version as well.
