I was finally able to photograph this beautiful shirt that I had the pleasure of making. The fabric is divine and so soft against your body. It is a John Kaldor crepe, and I would recommend that intermediate to advanced sewists use this fabric rather than beginner sewists. Although it is a crepe, it is a bit silky, unlike the traditional crepe fabric. With that said, let me tell you about this gorgeous fabric. It is lightweight and flowy, hence the reason I decided to make a shirt dress and I opted for no closures at the front. This shirt has a few details, some of which were because of some misjudgement on my part. It had a collar and collar stand, back yoke, inverted back pleat for extra ease and pockets of course. Lol! Notice the sleeves? Cute right? Well, for some unknown reason, after I cut my sleeves out, I decided to lower the sleeve head. That caused the sleeve cap to be too small for the armhole and also too tight for my arm at the cap area. I had to improvise and used a stretch charmeuse from my stash to create the detail contrast and build back my sleeve. (next post will show what I did) I had to make it look intentional, so I then added the band down the front to tie the whole look together. I think I had a few make it work moments with this shirt and I love the outcome.
