This is the first of two posts on one of my best yet technically challenging makes since my own wedding gown back in 1999.
I had hoped to finish it for the recent family wedding but the cake took most of my energy so I’d put it away until now.

When I saw the lace I thought instant ‘glamour’ and bring in the duchess satin and….oh la la 🤭

My previous post, when I was struggling with the lace overlay, refers to a picture that gave me the inspiration and the finished garment is a combination of three different patterns and a bit of self drafting along the way.

I’ll post again with more on the making and the techniques.

For now….I just adore vintage Hollywood glamour and I feel like I’m in the red carpet at a movie premiere in 1954 😊
