BLACK COTTON LAWN FABRIC I present to you a make that was made late last summer. Ann over at Designer Stitch has decided to update several of her past pdf patterns. This time it is the classic Kat Top. When I was trying to decide on which fabric to use, I remembered that I had a very nice classic floral black cotton lawn that was gifted by Minerva.com. The fabric was perfect! Here we have very humid summers and cotton fabrics help enormously! The fabric is a very nice black color. It has off-white flowers printed on a black background. I could see a person wearing this color all year around. The fabric has a crisp feel but is still very soft. The After washing and ironing my Indigo blue cotton lawn fabric, I began to put together the Kat Top pattern. I chose the weekend Kat Top option. This option has a more relaxed shell with the fit of an extended shoulder line giving a more casual look. I’m 5’3” therefore, I shortened the front and back pattern pieces by 1 inch. This was a very simple sew, a couple of hours from start to finish. The Kat Top has a neck binding instead of a lining, which is easier for me, and it also saves fabric. The extended shoulder line sleeves were very pleasant to finish. I now have a very classic cotton shell top!
