Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I originally made this dress hoping to attend a friend's wedding, but since it has been postponed (due to coronavirus) I will rededicate it to another celebration of love. This lovely pink and gold brushstroke fabric is a Nani Iro linen--I've sewn with this designer's cotton double gauze before but hadn't had the opportunity to use the linen until Minerva generously gifted it to me. It is lovely and the perfect weight for apparel! This particular item has a paler pink border on each side of the yardage, with lovely metallic gold flecks (which you can see best in the photo of the neckline above) which, in my opinion, make jewelry unnecessary!
I used my most-made pattern, Simplicity 4475, to make this. It is a simple vintage dress pattern with a full skirt and short sleeves, which makes it super versatile depending on the fabric selection. (You can see an extensive selection of these dresses on my blog,
alliemjackson.com, by searching for Simplicity 4475.) This one is certainly the most glamorous version I've made, especially with the beautiful gold details, but not too fancy for regular life. Well, perhaps too fancy for running around at the park, but not too fancy for brunch!
It's quite chilly where I live today, but I'm looking forward to the summer--and my friend's rescheduled wedding!--so that I can wear this dress!
